The Allied Healthcare Scholarship is available to California residents who
are currently enrolled in one of the following allied healthcare programs:
diagnostic medical sonography, medical imaging, medical laboratory
technology, occupational therapy, pharmacy, pharmacy technician, physical
therapy, respiratory care, social work, surgical technician, radiologic
technology, radiation therapy technology, nuclear medicine technology and
clinical laboratory science. To be eligible for this award, you must be a
full- or part-time student (no less than six units) at an accredited
California school, have a minimum 2.0 GPA, and be a U.S. citizen or
permanent resident. Additionally, you must agree to complete a one-year
service obligation to practice in a medically underserved area of
California providing direct patient care in your field of study or
complete 100 volunteer work hours for every $2,000 scholarship or 150
volunteer work hours for every $2,500 scholarship. Selection is based on
work experience, financial need, career goals, community service,
community background and academic performance. Priority will be given to
students who will complete their allied healthcare program within the next
two years.
Award amounts are $2,000 for students who attend a community college and
$2,500 for students who attend a university program. The deadline dates
are March 24 for the spring application and September 8 for the fall
