Description
The Appaloosa Youth Foundation will award annually eight
youth educational
scholarships of up to $1,000 each. One will be awarded in each of the
six territories of the Appaloosa Horse Club, one will be awarded
at-large, and one may be awarded to a winner from the previous year in
the form of a continuing scholarship.
The Appaloosa Youth Foundation reserves the right to vary the number
of
scholarships awarded, based on number of applicants per territory. The
territory to
which each winner belongs is determined by the permanent address of
the winner.
A first alternate and a second alternate will be designated for each
territory and
will receive a scholarship should a winner not use his/her award in
the period
stipulated.
Scholarships are awarded annually, preceding the school year for which
they must be used. The check awarded from the scholarship fund will be
made payable only to the institution the recipient is attending. It is
non-transferable and must be used
within one year from the date of award. If not used, it will be
awarded to the alternate.
Each applicant must be members of the Appaloosa Horse Club or the
Appaloosa
Youth Association to be eligible. No youth who is a member of the
immediate
family of an employee, representative or National Director of the ApHC
may be
considered as an applicant.
In order to apply for this scholarship, the applicant must hold a high
school
diploma or equivalent certification, or be anticipating high school
graduation this
year. GPA must be at least a 2.5 on a 4.0 scale or 3.8 on a 6.0 scale.
