Description |
Formerly known as the Mechanical/Electrical Building Systems Traveling
Fellowship, this award has been renamed and is now being administered by
and through the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and
Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE).
The purpose of this grant is to expand the vision and imagination of
young engineers in the design and engineering of building systems. It
recognizes research on such topics as energy-efficient design, the
application of new technologies, the appropriate use or re-use of
natural resources and the integration of building systems as components
of a work of architecture. As with ASHRAE grants, this grant is intended
to encourage Mechanical Engineering students to continue preparation for
service in the HVAC&R industry and to observe and analyze innovative
building systems and technologies that relate to his or her area of
interest.
The relevance of the research proposed by the candidate is a
consideration for awarding the grant and is made solely for the support
of one student. This grant of US $7,500 is not renewable. Typical
expenditures include living expenses, travel to research project sites,
experimental equipment, and supplies. The Foundation’s intention is to
enhance the professional life of students who, in the school’s judgment,
show intellectual and professional promise and are, therefore, deserving
of recognition. |
