The Freeman-ASIA Award is available to undergraduates who have applied or
been accepted to a country-based study abroad program in Asia. You must
have at least one term of enrollment remaining at your home institution
following your return from study in Asia and currently be receiving
need-based financial aid to be eligible for this award. Eligible study
abroad programs must award academic credit through your home institution,
last a minimum of eight weeks for a summer term, 10 weeks for a quarter
term, and 12 weeks for a semester term, and be located for at least eight
weeks in one of the following Asian countries: Cambodia, China, Hong Kong,
Indonesia, Japan, Korea, Laos, Macao, Malaysia, Mongolia, Philippines,
Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand or Vietnam. You must have little or no
previous experience in the country in which you plan to study and be a
U.S. citizen to qualify.
Applications for programs in the spring are due October 15; applications
for programs in the summer are due March 4; applications for programs in
