Description
The J.W. Saxe Memorial Fund provides scholarships
annually to one or more undergraduate or graduate students working in
public service. The award is meant to enable the student to gain
practical experience in public service by taking a no-pay or low-pay
job during a summer or other term. All contributions since the Fund's
inception have been used solely for prizes, none for overhead or
administration. Expenses of the Fund are borne by volunteer members of
the Board of Directors, who are the Fund's only staff and whose homes
are its only offices.
