Description The MSA Grant for Student Research in Mineralogy and Petrology is comprised of two awards of $5000 each for research in mineralogy and petrology.

Students, including graduate and undergraduate students, are encouraged to apply.  The award selection will be based on the qualifications of the applicant, the quality, innovativeness, and scientific significance of the research, and the likelihood of success of the project. There are no restrictions on how the grant funds may be spent, as long as they are used in support of research.  Travel to meetings, conferences, short courses, non-research fieldtrips, etc. is not considered suitable use of research money.
