Scholarship Description

The NFIB Young Entrepreneur Award program was established to raise awareness among the nation's youth of the critical role that private enterprise and entrepreneurship play in the building of America. The scholarships recognize and honor the students who receive them and provide financial assistance to both the students and their parents who must finance higher education. Since 2003, the NFIB Young Entrepreneur Foundation has awarded 1,538 scholarships to graduating high-school seniors totaling $1,609,000.

Each year the NFIB Young Entrepreneur Foundation will grant at least 400 NFIB Young Entrepreneur Awards nationwide in the amount of $1,000 each.

These awards are non-renewable and are not based on financial need. Scholarship recipients must enroll as full-time students in the fall of the year in which the scholarships are awarded and must continue in school for the entire academic year without interruption, barring illness, emergency or military service. Scholarship recipients may not defer their award for any reason. The NFIB Young Entrepreneur Award will be applied to educational expenses at any accredited, nonprofit two- or four-year college, university or vocational/technical school in the United States. A recipient may transfer from one school to another and retain the award.

The NFIB Young Entrepreneur Award program is administered by Scholarship Program Administrators, Inc., a firm that specializes in administering sponsored scholarship programs. This assures complete impartiality in the selection of recipients and maintains a high level of professionalism in dealing with students, parents, high schools and colleges.
