The Pope John Paul II Cultural Center National Essay Contest is available
to high school seniors in the United States and its territories and
possessions. In his 2005 World Day of Peace message, Pope John Paul II
urged his listeners "to promote peace, using consistent means, giving
importance to dialogue and works of justice and educating for
forgiveness." You must write an essay explaining how you would
specifically apply Pope John Paul II's guidance about dialogue, justice
and education for forgiveness to address terrorism in the aftermath of
9/11. All entries must have a school or church sponsor to be eligible. If
selected as a finalist you must attend the National Essay Contest
discourse and finals in Washington, DC from April 20-23, 2006.
Please visit the sponsor's Web site for additional information. People of
all denominational backgrounds are encouraged to apply.
