Scholarship Description
Each year on or about Anne’s birthday
of June 12, The Anne Frank Center honors Anne’s effort to improve the
world with awards, stipends and a scholarship to students, educators
and citizens who have demonstrated outstanding commitments to take a
stand against discrimination of all kinds.
Awards will be given to applicants in four categories: Outstanding
Youth Scholarship Award; Outstanding Youth Award; Outstanding Educator
Award; Outstanding Citizen Award.
Outstanding Youth Scholarship Award
Applicants for the scholarship award must be high school seniors who
have proven to be leaders in their community, and who have been
accepted to a four year college. One student will be awarded a $10,000
scholarship, paid out over four year. This award will honor a student
who has succeeded personally, academically and as a community leader.
To apply, candidates must submit:
• a one-page (250 word) essay
• a nomination form
• two letters of support
Documentation such as copies of photos, newspaper clippings, awards
and school grades may be included with the letters but will not be
returned. Candidates must be nominated by one person and sponsored by
at least two others who have personal knowledge of the candidate, but
may not be family members. To nominate a candidate, fill out the
nomination form and attach a letter of support. All candidates must be
able to attend the 12th Annual Spirit of Anne Frank Awards ceremony,
which will take place on Thursday June 12, 2008 at “The Pierre Hotel”
in New York City. The Anne Frank Center, if necessary, will provide
transportation and overnight stay.
Deadline: All materials must be post marked by Thursday, January 31,
2008 and awards will be announced Monday, March 3, 2008
