The William F. Helms Student Scholarship Program is available to
sophomore and junior agriculture and biological sciences students who
are interested in plant health issues relating to exotic plant and
animal species and disease. Students interested in careers in biology,
plant pathology, entomology, virology, bacteriology, mycology and
ecology are encouraged to apply. To be eligible for this award, you must
be a U.S. citizen, have a minimum 2.5 GPA, and agree to work for the
Plant Protection and Quarantine agency of the USDA Animal and Plant
Health Inspection Service during school breaks. Additionally, you must
submit a transcript, essay and three letters of recommendation. This
program includes tutoring assistance, mentoring and possible permanent
employment upon graduation.
